Ignacio Vazquez-Garcia

Principal Investigator

Ignacio is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, with an affiliation in the HMS/MGH Departments of Pathology and the MGH Krantz Family Center for Cancer Research. He is also an Associate Member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, a Member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Consortium, and a Faculty Affiliate of the Harvard Data Science Initiative.

Ignacio joined from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Columbia University in New York, where he was a Research Fellow in the MSK Computational Oncology Program with Sohrab Shah, and in the Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics at Columbia with Simon Tavaré. Before moving to the US, Ignacio completed his undergraduate studies in Physics at Imperial College London, and then graduated with a Ph.D. in Mathematical Genomics and Medicine from the University of Cambridge and the Wellcome Sanger Institute.

His work has been honored with several awards including a Wellcome Fellowship, Sanger Early Career Innovation Award, and an AACR NextGen Star Award.
